Why Responsive?

One question I have gotten so far has been “Why Responsive?” I felt it might be worth it to explain the choice behind the name. I had been looking for a name that really described my approach towards nutrition and how I want my clients to feel about nutrition when they work with me on …

Navigating Sports Nutrition when you are Vegetarian or Vegan

Interested in following a more plant based diet? Already a plant based athlete and want to make sure you are meeting your general nutrition and performance needs? Today I will cover the nutrients of concern for each type of vegetarian diet, as well as where you can find those nutrients in our food supply. Not currently an athlete? No worries! This post can be helpful for anyone who is seeking to consume a more plant based diet and is unsure where to start.

Plant based diets can range from those who exclude all animal products (vegan) to those who include animal products less frequently (flexitarian). This leaves us with a wide range of potential for deficiencies of certain macronutrients and micronutrients that we need in our diet not just for everyday function, but for performance too!

Grab-and-Go Breakfast Meal Prep : Oatmeal Cups

Oatmeal cups are a great starter recipe for those who are wanting to do some meal prepping but arent sure where to start. It is one of my favorites because of its versatility; it makes a great breakfast, snack, or treat. I have made it into a large “cake”, a sheet pan, and grab-and-go muffins- anything goes so it can suit your particular needs (do you need it for a snack item? a breakfast?) It’s also realllllyyy hard to screw this recipe up, its kid and adult friendly (my 4 year old can make this), and it can be prepared ahead of time and frozen and maintain its integrity!

What I’ve been doing.

2020 has been a huge year of change. At the beginning, I thought it would just be a huge year of change for me. If you don’t know me well, in 2019 I decided to quit my job and start my own business this year (what timing.). I also decided to stay home with my kids part time- which turned into full time once COVID set in. Huge change is an understatement.

However, 2020 turned out to be a huge year of change for all of us. It has caused us to take a good look in the mirror at who we are, what we are doing, and figure out what change we want to see in the world moving forward. If you haven’t seen me on social media lately, it’s because I have taken the valuable time I might have spent scrolling the ‘gram and spent it doing some serious research and soul searching.
